Once upon a time there was a sheep farm in the Wicklow Mountains. The farmer and his trusty sheepdog checked on their flock every day. They cared so much about the sheep. One day he realized that he couldn't keep saying goodbye to his friends anymore. He wanted to find a way of keeping all the things he cared for around for longer.

So he thought, how about I grow Christmas trees? They will stay around for more than 10 years and and I can really look after them. So he decided to plant a field of Christmas trees and then another, and then another. Thirty years later the farmer and his dog's grandpup are still planting Christmas trees together.

Visit Seamus (the farmer) and Charlie (the dog) and take home a Wicklow Mountain tradition for the very first time in 2024.

This was a really nice way to spend a Sunday: drinking hot chocolate, chowing down mince pies, and forcing your other half to pose for embarrassing photographs. Ah, Christmas!

Q.1 How much do the trees cost?

Our fresh cut trees are €12 per foot and pre-cut are €8 per foot up to 9ft and then our pricing changes to a per tree price.

Q.2 How do we get to the farm?

The best way is going to Google Maps and getting directions. Otherwise we are 3km from Roundwood Village near Lough Dan.

Q.3 How do we Cut the tree?

Luckily you don’t have to, we do all the heavy lifting for you.

Q.4 What should I wear to the farm?

We recommend that you wrap up well and expect Irish weather.

Wellington Boots are essential this year, as we have a lot of sheep on site now, to help with the health of the trees and soil.

Q.5 Should we bring anything?

Maybe something to tie the tree down on the way home but if you forget we have some great ties for sale.

Q.6 Do you accept credit and debit cards?

We sure do, we also accept contactless.

Q.7 How long do the tress take to grow?

The trees take on average 8 years to grow on our farm, they were little plants for 4 years before that so from seeds 12 years.

Q.8 Do you have potted trees?

We don’t, in our experience people are disappointed with the results they get from a potted tree. They rarely take to their new home. We can however help you source Christmas Tree plants in the spring which is the best way of having your own all year around tree. The good thing to know is that we replant a tree for everyone we cut down.

Q.9 I’m planning on getting a large tree and I have a trailer. Can i bring it?

Yes, we recommend that if you’re getting a large tree that you bring a trailer.

Q.10 Are you dog friendly?

Yes, we welcome all well behaved dogs on a leash.

Q.11 Do you deliver christmas trees?

Unfortunately we don’t deliver trees.

Q.12 Can I pre-select a specific christmas tree in advance of taking it home

At our farm, a key part of the experience is allowing visitors the freedom to choose their tree on-site. As a result, we don’t facatilate reserving trees in advance.
